Transplant Survivors

Hope. Lives. Here.

Sharing our story and our learnings to help you navigate the life of liver disease and transplant.

OUR STORY

Welcome to Transplant Survivors.  We are so glad you’re here!

Our journey began with a diagnosis that changed our lives forever. My husband was listed for a liver transplant after battling end-stage liver disease, a road filled with uncertainty, fear, and immense challenges. Over time, his health declined rapidly, bringing us face-to-face with some of the most difficult moments we’ve ever experienced as a family.

In the months leading up to his surgery, my husband endured memory loss and debilitating symptoms that made even the simplest tasks nearly impossible. The toll extended beyond him. Our daughters witnessed their father’s health decline and felt the strain of our absence as I remained by his side during his nine-day hospital stay. Like so many families navigating the transplant world, we faced these challenges together, leaning on our faith, resilience, and the kindness of family & friends who became our lifelines.

The transplant surgery was a turning point—both a miracle and a beginning. While it marked the start of my husband’s recovery, it also opened our eyes to the complexities of life after a transplant: the medication regimens, the emotional highs and lows, and the ongoing need for support.

Through this experience, we’ve come to realize how isolating and overwhelming this journey can feel. That’s why we created Transplant Survivors—to share what we’ve learned, provide a sense of hope, and create a space where others navigating similar paths can feel less alone.

On this site, you’ll find practical advice and resources we wish we’d had when we started this journey. It’s our hope that by sharing our experience, we can help other transplant recipients, caregivers, and families find strength, understanding, and community.

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey.

With love and hope,
Michelle & Ian

P.S. Please consider being an ORGAN DONOR. My husband was given renewed life because someone selflessly chose to be a donor. We are forever grateful 💚 Register here if you are based in the USA. For other countries, please check online for specifics.
